The Neighbors disc is made up entirely of bands from Tender Loving Empire's beloved hometown of Portland Oregon. From the sugary synth pop of Mega*Church to the breakbeatage of Boy Eats Drum Machine to the hushed hugeness of Inside Voices, the Neighbors disc features some acts who have broken into the national limelight (Starfucker,Lacktherof) and some who have only recently played their first show (Yeah Great Fine, Gratitillium)
The Pen Pals disc is largely made up of friends and encountereesfrom various TLE tours. We found the unmatchable Tune-Yards stomping and strumming her yuke without amplification followinga visit from Boise’s finest. The beautiful “Beard” by Owls Go was recorded specifically for the comp after we heard them play it at a show in Baltimore, MD. Scene mainstays Kickball gave us a glimpse into a house party singalong in Olympia. The comp is hand silkscreened in 3 blues with art by Andrew Sloan.
