We Love This: Astro Tan + The Bonsai Tree Kit

July 12, 2017

Each month we pick one cool thing and one free music download and email all our fans. We call it WE LOVE THIS because it's stuff we truly do. (If you're not signed up for our mailings you can do it here AND enter for a chance to win a trip to visit us in PDX!) This month it's a song from the Portland band Astro Tan (pictured above) and a tiny tree to grow from JPants.

JPants makes eco-minded DIY plant kits here in Portland, OR. Along with 4-Leaf Clover Kits, Seed Bombs, and a grow-your-own Sensitive Plant Kit, Mr. Pants also offers a Bonsai Tree Kit. Simple to care for, the most important component may be PATIENCE! (Detailed instructions are available online, but don't cover the patience part.) Start your bonsai from seed and grow a friend for life.

"man it's super good,"—KMHD program director Matt Fleeger

Even in a city overflowing with musical talent, Astro Tan stands apart.  Along with playing more than their fair share of well-known venues and house shows up and down the West Coast, they've been featured on Portland's nationally recognized jazz radio station KMHD. Unusual cred for a Portland indie band. What's the buzz all about? Download the MP3 for their song "To Joyce, From Japan" and find out.
