MEDIA INVITATION: Live music, makers, and a national sweepstakes take the stage at the handmade goods retailer and record label's airport party
Tender Loving Empire (TLE) announced the lineup for its Grand Opening Event at their newest retail location, located at the Portland International Airport (PDX). The event will be held at their airport store on Concourse D from 11am to 12:30pm on May 18. As the store is beyond the security gates, Media Invite RSVP is required (see below).
Headlining the event are Portland pop-duo The Domestics, who will be performing for all travelers outside the store. Other well-known Portland makers and musicians who have been represented by TLE throughout its ten-year history will also be in attendance. The event will include a reception complete with giant scissors, a ribbon cutting, and snacks and drinks with the TLE founders and staff.
"It will be very different from other airport openings," said Rachel Milbauer, Community Manager for TLE. "We wanted to represent both our makers and our musicians, so bringing in a band to rock the concourse seemed like a perfect fit."
At the event, TLE will be unveiling a nationwide sweepstakes, being held to celebrate both the opening at PDX and the company's 10th anniversary. The sweepstakes will be a celebration of Portland, incorporating sponsors from representative businesses across the city.
“We’re excited to have Tender Loving Empire open at PDX, said Shane Andreasen, Port of Portland senior manager of concessions development. “Their presence further showcases our commitment to incorporating local small businesses into our robust concessions program, which helps expose regional makers and musicians to more than 18 million travelers a year.”
Please RSVP to Rachel Milbauer at email@example.com by May 15. As the Concourse D location is beyond the security gates, press access to the event will require an RSVP for airport clearance.
About Tender Loving Empire
Tender Loving Empire (TLE) was founded by Jared and Brianne Mees in 2006 in Portland Oregon. TLE’s goal is and has always been to make connections with visual artists, designers, musicians and craftspeople—and then connect them to new fans, and listeners. TLE has expanded from its humble beginnings as a mom and pop operation in a tiny out of the way location to a thriving multi-vertical company that employs 39 people via 4 Portland retail stores: Portland International Airport (Concourse D), downtown (in the West End), on SE Hawthorne, and on NW 23rd. They also have an e-commerce website, a line of signature products and an internationally distributed record label.
