The handmade goods retailer and record label is spotlighting a host of local makers and musicians for travelers to and from the Rose City
Tender Loving Empire (TLE) announced today the opening of their new retail location at the Portland International Airport (PDX), in the D Concourse. It is the fourth retail location in Portland for the company, currently celebrating the 10th anniversary of its founding in 2007. TLE is a record label and marketplace for handmade goods that supports independent artists. The new PDX location will carry a specially curated selection of handmade gifts, apparel, music, food and beverages, including its own signature line of products, presented in a fresh, bright and inspiring retail space.
"It's been 10 years of hard work to get here. We're overjoyed to be putting hundreds of local artists, musicians and makers in front of the 18 million people that will go through PDX in 2017. While this is a big day for us as a company, it's also a big day for all the artists we represent." said Brianne Mees, co-founder of TLE.
The unique and inviting retail space has been created by the award-winning Fieldwork Design, who has also designed TLE’s SE Hawthorne and NW 23rd locations in Portland. The result is a fresh take on the airport retail experience.
About Tender Loving Empire
Tender Loving Empire (TLE) was founded by Jared and Brianne Mees in 2006 in Portland Oregon. TLE’s goal is and has always been to make connections with visual artists, designers, musicians and craftspeople—and then connect them to new fans, and listeners. TLE has expanded from its humble beginnings as a mom and pop operation in a tiny out of the way location to a thriving multi-vertical company that employs 39 people via 4 Portland retail stores: Portland International Airport (Concourse D), downtown (in the West End), on SE Hawthorne, and on NW 23rd. They also have an e-commerce website, a line of signature products and an internationally distributed record label.
